Google Search has always been about finding the best results for you. Sometimes that means results from the public web, but sometimes it means your personal content or things shared with you by people you care about. These wonderful people and this rich personal content is currently missing from your search experience. Search is still limited to a universe of webpages created publicly, mostly by people you’ve never met. Today, we’re changing that by bringing your world, rich with people and information, into search.
Search is pretty amazing at finding that one needle in a haystack of billions of webpages, images, videos, news and much more. But clearly, that isn’t enough. You should also be able to find your own stuff on the web, the people you know and things they’ve shared with you, as well as the people you don’t know but might want to... all from one search box.
We’re transforming Google into a search engine that understands not only content, but also people and relationships. We began this transformation with Social Search, and today we’re taking another big step in this direction by introducing three new features:
Personal Results, which enable you to find information just for you, such as Google+ photos and posts—both your own and those shared specifically with you, that only you will be able to see on your results page;
Profiles in Search, both in autocomplete and results, which enable you to immediately find people you’re close to or might be interested in following; and,
People and Pages, which help you find people profiles and Google+ pages related to a specific topic or area of interest, and enable you to follow them with just a few clicks. Because behind most every query is a community.
Together, these features combine to create Search plus Your World. Search is simply better with your world in it, and we’re just getting started.

Personal Results
Say you’re looking for a vacation destination. You can of course search the web, but what if you want to learn from the experiences your friends have had on their vacations? Just as in real life, your friends’ experiences are often so much more meaningful to you than impersonal content on the web. With your world in search, you can find:
Google+ posts. You can find relevant Google+ posts from friends talking about an amazing trip they just took, whether they’ve shared privately with you or publicly. You’ll find links shared by your friends, such as activities, restaurants and other things they enjoyed on their trip.
Photos. You can find beautiful vacation photos from your friends right in your search results page. You can also find your own private photos from Google+ and Picasa, based on captions, comments and album title.
Personal Results: a family story
As a child, my favorite fruit was Chikoo, which is exceptionally sweet and tasty. A few years back when getting a family dog, we decided to name our sweet little puppy after my favorite fruit. Over the years we have privately shared many pictures of Chikoo (our dog) with our family. To me, the query [chikoo] means two very sweet and different things, and today’s improvements give me the magical experience of finding both the Chikoos I love, right in the results page.
This is search that truly knows me, and gives me a result page that only I can see. And while I get a nice mix of personal results with results from the web, I can also click the link at the top of the results page (red arrow) for the option to search only within my world.

Profiles in Search
Every day, there are hundreds of millions of searches for people. Sometimes, it’s hard to find the person you’re looking for. Once you do find him or her, there’s no quick way for you to actually interact. Starting today, you’ll have meaningful ways to connect with people instantly, right from the search results.
Now, typing just the first few letters of your friend’s name brings up a personalized profile prediction in autocomplete. Selecting a predicted profile takes you to a results page for your friend, which includes information from their Google+ profile and relevant web results that may be related to them. And you can have this personal experience instantaneously, thanks to Google Instant. So when I search for [ben smith], I now find my dear friend Ben every time, instead of the hundreds of other Ben Smiths out there (no offense to all of them!).
In addition, you’ll find profile autocomplete predictions for various prominent people from Google+, such as high-quality authors from our authorship pilot program.
Once you select that profile, if you’re a signed-in Google+ user, you’ll also see a button to add them to your circles right on your search results page.

People and Pages
As I mentioned earlier, behind most queries are communities. Starting today, if you search for a topic like [music] or [baseball], you might see prominent people who frequently discuss this topic on Google+ appearing on the right-hand side of the results page. You can connect with them on Google+, strike up meaningful conversations and discover entire communities in a way that simply wasn’t possible before.

Unprecedented security, transparency and control
When it comes to security and privacy, we set a high bar for Search plus Your World. Since some of the information you’ll now find in search results, including Google+ posts and private photos, is already secured by SSL encryption on Google+, we have decided that the results page should also have the same level of security and privacy protection. That's part of why we were the first major search engine to turn on search via SSL by default for signed-in users last year. This means when you’re signed in to Google, your search results—including your private content—are protected by the same high standards of encryption as your messages in Gmail.
We also want to be transparent about how our features work and give you control over how to use them. With today’s changes, we provide interface elements and control settings like those you’ll find in Google+. For example, personal results are clearly marked as Public, Limited or Only you. Additionally, people in your results are clearly marked with the Google+ circle they are in, or as suggested connections.
We’re also introducing a prominent new toggle on the upper right of the results page where you can see what your search results look like without personal content. With a single click, you can see an unpersonalized view of search results.
That means no results from your friends, no private information and no personalization of results based on your Web History. This toggle button works for an individual search session, but you can also make this the default in your Search Settings. We provide separate control in Search Settings over other contextual signals we use, including location and language.
That's unprecedented transparency and control over personal search results.

A beautiful journey begins
Search plus Your World will become available over the next few days to people who are signed in and searching on https://www.google.com in English.
While there may be 7 billion people and 197 million square miles on Earth, a septillion stars and a trillion webpages, we spend our short, precious lives living in a particular town, with particular friends and family, orbiting a single star and relying on a tiny slice of the world’s information. Our dream is to have technology enable everyone to experience the richness of all their information and people around them.
We named our company after the mathematical number googol as an aspiration toward indexing the countless answers on webpages, but that’s only part of the picture. The other part is people, and that’s what Search plus Your World is all about.

Words, spoken or written, are not simply groups of characters. This is an enormous power which transforms the world we live in. The whole mankind and every single one of us have been inspired, encouraged, motivated, depressed, persuaded, manipulated and controlled by words. But today we are going to touch only one aspect – the ability of words to pass your message to your potential customers and make them buying your product or service – the selling power of words.

The use of words to promote a business, person, opinion or idea is called copywriting – “getting across the perfect message, with the perfect words" (Rob Nightingale, http://www.incepto.co.uk)

The first question: What is the name of your company? Roman saying claims: “Nomen est omen – In name is destiny. And we sincerely believe that it is true. Really, it is very important to decide what your business name should mean and represent. We are giving you a list of examples from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_company_name_etymologies. Please read it carefully and you will understand the naming strategy without any comments and explanations.

•    7-Eleven – Convenience stores; renamed from "U-Tote'm" in 1946 to reflect their newly extended hours, 7:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m.
• Adidas – from the name of the founder Adolf (Adi) Dassler.
• Amazon.com – founder Jeff Bezos renamed the company Amazon (from the earlier name of Cadabra.com) after the world's most voluminous river, the Amazon. He saw the potential for a larger volume of sales in an online (as opposed to a bricks and mortar) bookstore.
• Apple – For the favorite fruit of co-founder Steve Jobs and/or for the time he worked at an apple orchard, and to distance itself from the cold, unapproachable, complicated imagery created by other computer companies at the time.
• Asus – named after Pegasus, the winged horse of Greek mythology. The first three letters of the word were dropped to get a high position in alphabetical listings.
• BBC – British Broadcasting Corporation.
• BMW – Bayerische Motoren Werke (Bavarian Motor Factories)
• Boeing – named after founder William E. Boeing.
• Coca-Cola – derived from the “coca leaves” and “kola nuts” used as flavouring. Coca-Cola creator John S. Pemberton changed the 'K' of kola to 'C' to make the name look better.
• Equifax – Equitable and factual.
• Google – an originally accidental misspelling of the word googol, which was proposed to reflect the company's mission to organize the immense amount of information available online. A googol is the large number 10100, that is, the digit 1 followed by one hundred zeros in decimal representation
• IBM – named by Tom (Thomas John) Watson, an ex-employee of National Cash Register. To one-up them in all respects, he called his company International Business Machines.
• Kodak – Both the Kodak camera and the name were the invention of founder George Eastman. The letter "K" was a favorite with Eastman; he felt it a strong and incisive letter. He tried out various combinations of words starting and ending with "K". He saw three advantages in the name. It had the merits of a trademark word, would not be mispronounced and the name did not resemble anything in the art. There is a misconception that the name was chosen because of its similarity to the sound produced by the shutter of the camera.
• Microsoft – coined by Bill Gates to represent the company that was devoted to microcomputer software.
• Pepsi – named from the digestive enzyme pepsin.
• QVC– Quality, Value and Convenience
• Sharp – Japanese consumer electronics company named from its first product, an ever-sharp pencil.
• Sony – from the Latin word 'sonus' meaning sound, and 'sonny' a slang word used by Americans to refer to a bright youngster, "since we were sonny boys working in sound and vision", said Akio Morita.
• Starbucks – named after Starbuck, a character in Herman Melville's novel Moby-Dick.
• Volvo – from the Latin word volvo, which means "I roll".
• Wal-Mart– named after founder Sam Walton
• Xerox – named from xerography, a word derived from the Greek xeros (dry) and graphos (writing).
• Yahoo! – The word Yahoo was invented by Jonathan Swift and used in his book Gulliver’s Travels. It represents a person who is repulsive in appearance and barely human. Yahoo! Founders David Filo and Jerry Yang jokingly considered themselves yahoos.

The second question: What is your business slogan? And that again, what is a slogan and why we are considering it here? A slogan is a memorable motto or phrase used in a political, commercial, religious or other context as a repetitive expression of an idea or purpose. The word slogan is derived from slogorn which was an Anglicization of the Scottish and Irish Gaelic sluagh-ghairm (sluagh "army", + gairm "cry") (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slogan).

Regarding marketing, slogan is a short, memorable advertising phrase that often appears in advertisements; a catch phrase or small group of words that are combined in a special way to identify a product or company. For example:
• Nike – “Just Do It"
• Home Depot – “You can do it, we can help”
•    FedEx – “Relax, it’s FedEx”
• Schering – Making medicine work
•    McDonald's – I'm lovin' it!

But it’s not about identification only; it’s about making sales and bringing money to your bank account. Otherwise, why bother? We are talking business here, not hobbies.

The texts for your website, corporate brochure, article, flayer, postcard or whatever have to be written thoroughly. As Aristotle said, “A good style must, first of all, be clear. It must be appropriate”. And check twice, or even three times, for grammar mistakes because “Grammar can govern even kings” (Moliere). Also, “For a man to write well, there are required three necessaries: to read the best authors, observe the best speakers and much exercise of his own style” (Ben Jonson).

At Mexley Marketing Inc. we are direct and honest. Does your business slogan sound funny; is your telemarketing message not working; is your company name confusing; is the text on the home page of your website too long and containing key words not enough for search engine optimization? You will get our professional opinions, truthfully, but gently. However, we are open minded and do welcome the same back from you!

Happy copywriting!
But if it is not your cup of tea, Mexley Marketing Inc. is at your service!

First of all, what are we going to talk about? What is “Internet Marketing”? According to Susan Ward (http://sbinfocanada.about.com/), “Internet Marketing is an all-inclusive term for marketing products and/or services online – and like many all-inclusive terms, Internet marketing means different things to different people. Essentially, though, Internet marketing refers to the strategies that are used to market a product or service online, marketing strategies that include search engine optimization and search engine submission, copywriting that encourages site visitors to take action, website design strategies, online promotions, reciprocal linking, and email marketing – and that’s just hitting the highlights.” In a few words, Internet Marketing is the marketing of products or services over the Internet.

We cannot help saying that although the terms Internet and World Wide Web are often used in everyday speech without any distinction, they are not the same. The Internet is a global data communications system. It is a hardware and software infrastructure that provides connections between computers, whereas the WWW is one of the services communicated through the Internet. It is a collection of documents and other resources, linked by hyperlinks and URLs.

And now, the answer on the title question is NOT. Internet Marketing is not just a fashionable trend! It is a demand of the time which has brought many unique advantages to marketing:
•    a special quality of the medium that allows users to research and buy products and services at their own convenience, which can bring sales quickly;
•    lower costs for advertising and the distribution of information when compared to the ratio of cost against the reach of the target groups, also companies can reach a wide audience for a small share of traditional advertising budgets;
•    interactive nature of Internet marketing that provides instant response and elicits replies;
• benefits of measuring statistics easily, quickly and inexpensively: almost every aspect of an Internet marketing campaign can be traced, measured, and tested.

Internet marketing is growing faster than any other type of media because more people spend more time online. In 2008 the New York Times working with comScore published interesting statistic data: the number of searches that American Web users enter each month has nearly doubled since summer of 2006, to 14.6 billion searches in January 2008; five large Web operations – Yahoo, Google, AOL, MySpace and Microsoft – record at least 336 billion transmission events in a month, not counting their ad networks (www.nytimes.com).

However, it would be fair to mention about Internet marketing limitations. As we see it, the most important of them are the following:
• Internet marketing requires visitors to use newer technologies, but low-speed Internet connections and huge complicated websites could be a big barrier.
• The inability of shoppers to touch, smell, taste or "try on" goods before making an online purchase can also be limiting for a lot of potential buyers even if vendors have liberal return policies.
• Security concerns of different nature that are important to both companies and consumers that participate in online business, such as: keeping their personal, including financial, information private and safe.

Mexley Marketing Inc. will build you a professional website that will market your business by being on the first page of Google, MSN and Yahoo. We do this by search engine optimization (SEO) so that your site will get maximum traffic. Also, to increase your company online marketing performance we could include “pay-per-click” option which will generate more traffic to your website in addition to organic traffic.

Have fun with Internet marketing!
But remember that Mexley Marketing Inc. is always ready to help you!

Almost 20 years are gone since 1990, when a physicist from the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN), Tim Berners-Lee, followed his dream of a better, easier way to communicate via computers on a global scale, created the World Wide Web. On April 30, 1993, CERN announced that the World Wide Web would be free to use for anyone. (http://info.cern.ch/)

WWW went too far from the starting point and nowadays, most buyers and potential partners will definitely review your website before they do business with you. Your website is one of the most powerful sales and marketing tools you have. It represents your brand, gives an example of the quality of work you do, and transforms visitors into your customers. Do not underestimate the enormous power of your website and consider it as a substantial investment, which not necessarily have to be expensive.

There are two main types of websites – static and dynamic. Static marketing websites normally present to the visitors pre-defined – static – information about a company and its products or services using text, photos, flash animation, audio/video, interactive menus and navigation. It is a classic website, a five-page website, similar to handing out a printed brochure to your potential customers. The static website generally displays consistent, standard information for an extended period of time that visitors are not able to control and they have to settle for whatever content the website owner has decided to offer. The website owner periodically can manually update the content, but this process may require basic website design skills and software.

A dynamic website changes content automatically that can be dynamic in one of two ways: 1) the web page code is constructed dynamically, and 2) the web page content varies based on certain criteria (the criteria may be pre-defined rules, be based on variable user input etc.). It is much simpler to maintain a several template pages and a database than it is to build and update hundreds of individual web pages and links, and this is the main purpose of a dynamic website. It interacts with visitors in a variety of ways.

There are a number of methods for creating a website business which fall into two broad categories:

1). Content based sites which generate revenue by selling advertising space on the site; and

2). Product or service based sites that derive cash flow by offering products or services for sale which may be purchased at the website itself, by entering credit card information. While most websites serve as a shop window for existing “brick & mortar” businesses, the number of websites that are businesses in their own right (where the products they offer are only available for purchase on the web) constantly increases. Occasionally, websites derive income from a combination of these two practices.

Mexley Marketing website development team will create for you a website to effectively communicate with your market and support your brand. It must look professional and appealing to your potential clients. Research has shown that the amount of people that will find your business online is on the rise as the Internet is growing. We can implement the latest technology into your website including forums, content management system, e-commerce, blogs and animated objects like flash and java.

We also can create the right domain name for your website, register and then host it. By the way, don’t you know that only a few corporations worldwide own a two letter domain name like, for example, Procter & Gamble – www.pg.com? So, do not expect that the name of your website will be of two-three letters, but we will make it reasonably short.

Mexley Marketing Inc. is the right company to get your website designed if you:
•    want an effective website with an eye catching design at affordable cost;
•    want to have a complete understanding about what you are getting for your money before you commit;
•    want to work with a client-focused team that has experience in dealing with customers;
• are looking for a one stop solution that will maximize your savings.

Do not be afraid to contact Mexley Marketing Inc. regardless of the budget you have to work with. We will help you to determine what you really need and turn your website into an income source. We are interested in building a relationship with you, not in making transactions. We want you to get the best return for your buck. We will be watching and advising you to spend your money only if we are completely convinced that it is necessary; for example: probably with a website, you do not need brochures; maybe a part-time salesperson is better than a full-time employee. That is what makes our services affordable.

We always look for ways to make our services less expensive than the industry average without compromising the quality. If you are a small business owner or an individual with a hobby - we are positive in our ability to help you.

You know WHAT, WHEN and WHY you want it. Very good! You are ready to start your business journey.

Now, imagine you are going for a trip without any idea in which direction you want to go. Where will you end up? You can only guess about it. But if from the very beginning you know your destination, then there are a lot of chances that you finally get there. Remember, “No man should travel until he has learned the language of the country he visits. Otherwise he voluntarily makes himself a great baby, - so helpless and ridiculous” (Ralph Waldo Emerson). Have you got the point? A marketing plan is your “language”, your road map, your GPS navigator guiding you on your way to success.

Most entrepreneurs agree that comprehensive strategic marketing planning is of vital importance for company’s growth. However, it is surprising how many businesses DO NOT develop a thorough plan which includes:
•    clear and  measurable financial goals for a specific period of time;
•    target market;
•    competitive positioning strategy;
•    brand strategy;
•    product or service overview;
•    distribution channels;
•    pricing strategy;
•    major marketing campaigns;
•    marketing budget;
•    dates to review progress.

Yes, it takes considerable time and requires knowledge to develop a solid plan, but it is also the greatest opportunity to focus your efforts, generate new ideas, and find motivation, pleasure and fun in making your plan true.

What’s next?

Set your annual goals
Be ambitious but realistic. We do not want you to get depressed at the end of your term simply because your goals were exaggerated. Also, to avoid disappointment, set the dates to review your progress and make corrections. Always remember: “Man supposes – God disposes”?

Do your homework – do market research
To create a good marketing plan you have to do lots (and we really mean it) of research to gather enough information to determine if there is a demand for your product or service, what the industry trends are, who your potential customers are, who your main competitors are, what your strengths, weaknesses, competitive advantages and marketing opportunities are.

Define your target market
In five words your target market is: WHERE YOUR MONEY COMES FROM.
Who, why and how often is going to buy from you?

Think about how you are going to reach your target market
How will your prospective customers know about your product is real MARKETING, developed from the original meaning which referred literally to going to market to sell or buy goods or services. It is a KEY ELEMENT of your entire marketing strategy. Marketing campaigns play dramatic role in your company life and include many different media to choose from. It is crucial to remember that poor marketing can drive a very good company out of business or vice versa, make a company with a less than average product successful.

Make your product or service standing out of the crowd
What makes your product or service unique: operational excellence, product leadership, the lowest prices or customer intimacy? What sets it apart from your competitors? What value do you provide? Describe in detail your product or service, highlighting its special features. Think hard about your competitive positioning and branding strategy. Know your customers’ wants and needs, likes and dislikes. Create right images and words that will sell your product or services to more people more efficiently.

Develop your marketing budget
What are the costs that you allocated for your marketing campaigns? Remember,
MARKETING IS NOT A LIABILITY, IT IS AN INVESTMENT that generates cash flow to your bank account and gives opportunities for your business growth. Be careful and realistic with your numbers, don’t forget that expenses are always much bigger than you expect.

A well-written, detailed and comprehensive marketing plan is a basis that makes your company a profitable business.

Good luck!

Let’s start from the beginning: how the first ever logo was created? Probably, you do not know this interesting story. Allow us to tell you that English immigrant William Procter, a candlemaker, and Irish immigrant James Gamble, a soapmaker, who settled in Cincinnati in the midst of XIX century, and who both married sisters, Olivia and Elizabeth Norris, formed a company to produce inexpensive candles and soap. Alexander Norris, their father-in law, called a meeting in which he persuaded his new sons-in-law to become business partners because they both needed the same raw material – animal fat. On October 31, 1837, as a result of the suggestion, Procter & Gamble was born.

Companions’ products, obviously, were not unique, but the quality was a little bit better and the price was a little bit cheaper. Step by step, the shop owners of the area started preferring Procter & Gamble stuff against the other manufacturers. William and James probably never would have thought about their company special sign, if one day in 1851, Procter paid his attention to the crude crosses that illiterate barge workers on the Ohio River painted on boxes with soap and stars – on the boxes with candles, to identify them. Since one vendor returned all products back to the company only because the boxes were not marked with the familiar sign, which was very suspicious, no one box left the company’s doors without having the logo. Soon after religious Procter eliminated crosses and changed this symbol into a trademark that showed the man in the moon overlooking thirteen stars, which were meant to commemorate the original thirteen colonies. (In the 1980s there were a lot of speculations that the moon-and-stars logo was a satanic symbol, but this is a different story.) Also, we cannot help mentioning that as radio became very popular in the 1920s and 1930s, the company (as a part of its marketing campaign) sponsored a number of radio programs. As a result, these shows often became commonly known as “soap operas”. When the medium switched to television in the 1950s and 1960s, most of the new serials were sponsored and produced by Procter & Gamble. Two of them, As the Words Turns and Guiding Light are still on the air.

We hope the story we have told you gave you a general idea about three main functions of a logo:

to visually communicate what the company does or provides;

to create a memorable and recognizable mark in peoples mind for future encounters;

to guarantee quality of the products or services.

Just out of curiosity, check yourself – what flashes in your mind when you hear or read Coca-Cola, Adidas, Nike, Sony, Microsoft, Google, IBM, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Honda, Volkswagen, Disneyland, UPS, FedEx, McDonalds? Right, once the logo gets internationally popular, people start recalling the company by its logo only. History says that the globally renowned Playboy magazine once received a letter at its Chicago, Illinois offices with its distinctive "bunny" logo as the only identifying mark appearing at the mailing address spot.

One well-known fact: when Phil Knight started Nike, he was trying to find a mark as recognizable as the Adidas stripes. He hired a young student, Carolyn Davidson, to design his logo, paying her $35 for what has become one of the best known marks in the world (she was later compensated again by the company).

Your logo is like the face of your company to the whole world. The human mind remembers images and pictures before they will remember a name. It’s all about memory tricks. Most people can associate your logo with your business a lot easier than with your company name. This is probably the most important reason why any business needs a logo. Even some countries whose tourism sector makes up a large portion of their economy such as Spain, Italy, Turkey or the Bahamas Islands have logos that identify them in marketing their country. A business name is very important but it will never be as catchy as a great logo. That’s why, currently, the usage of both image (ideogram) and name (logotype) is widely spread.

Think carefully if you are creating a logo, design it to stay for long because it cannot be changed frequently. It must be unique and accepted worldwide regardless of geographical location or ethnic group. Your logo is your business asset and long-term investment. Sure, you may change your logo through the years – “changing with the times” – but not dramatically. Through the past 50+ years Pepsi and Coke have modified their logos, but just a little bit. So, it must be kept in mind that whether online or in print, the appearance of your logo should be the same.

Funny thing happened to the FedEx logo, where the brand consultants persuaded the company to shorten their corporate name from "Federal Express" to the popular now abbreviation "Fed Ex". By doing that, they reduced the amount of color used on vehicles (planes, trucks) and saved hundreds of thousands of dollars in paint costs. Also, the right-pointing arrow in the new logo is a good hint of motion.

Logos could be business-makers or business-breakers. They have proven to work both ways – good or bad. If your logo is confusing and ugly, a customer might remember you as such. If a client has already had an experience one way or another with your company, from that moment on, that person’s memory will remember your business logo and associate it with that experience. There is nothing worse than a great business that is easy to forget.

Although Color should not be an integral component to the logo design, it is very important to brand recognition. For instance, in Canada white and read are used in logos for companies that want to project patriotic feelings. Green is often associated with health foods or environmental protection. Coca-Cola's script is known worldwide, but is best connected with the color red. The Western Union logotype is recognizable from afar because of its yellow-and-black color. And we could continue … ad infinitum.

A logo could be dynamic. The best example is the Michelin Man, a cartoon figure who was presented in many different ways, such as eating, drinking, and playing sports and was first introduced in 1898 by the tire manufacturer, Michelin.

Please remember, the logo of your company must be placed very wisely. It has to be used at all prominent spots, on your website and every banner, email, letterhead or invoice. It is also very helpful in Internet marketing, as it travels with its prospects every time.

We hope that we have convinced you that Mexley Marketing Inc. is a team of professionals who know how to do their job.

Thanks for reading everyone!
